When you run in debt, you give to another power over your liberty.
– Benjamin Franklin
Fiscal responsibility happens on two fronts, domestically and internationally.
Domestically, the rampant abuses of the welfare system cost the tax payers billions of dollars a year in fraud, waste and abuse. Estimates of benefits reaped by illegal immigrants exceed $1.4 billion dollars a year in Pennsylvania alone. The failed free "Obama phones" and numerous other wasteful projects have led to the catastrophic budget crisis in which our nation is caught. The bottom line is that the federal government recklessly wastes our money on these corrupted programs. Federal waste means tax payer waste.
Internationally, the United States spends billions of dollars a year to support nations around the world. In many cases, the funds are well spent, helping people in need or storing up allies. However, there are numerous cases of American money pouring into corrupt or hostile government structures and organizations. A case in point is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), tasked with helping Arab refugees along Israel's borders. Instead of solving the refugee crisis, UNRWA funds schools that teach children to commit terrorist attacks against innocent Israelis. Furthermore, UNRWA, which was created in 1948 to help an estimated 500,000 displaced persons/refugees, has created a welfare system with an estimated three million refugees living in these camps. This multi-generational money- making racket is sucking away American money that should be spent on our own nation. The projected amount of American giving to UNRWA in 2018 is about $125,000,000. This cash cow must find its end now.
Funds must return to the United States and be used to strengthen our military forces, protect our borders, offer aid to victims of catastrophic events, improve health care, build our businesses and preserve a good quality of life for all American citizens. If fiscal responsibility is a major priority, our nation will flourish because of it!
